Project assessment in financial inclusion and development

Evaluating a project is essential to improve its impact, orient resources, and support the continuity of international cooperation initiatives or local development strategies. In the complex contexts where we work, this requires solid methodological tools, in-depth contextual knowledge, and an independent approach.

Z

OECD/DAC criteria:

Relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, coherence, impact and sustainability
Z

Aligned with the SDGs and other international standards (ESG, etc.)
Z

Tailored socio-economic indicators

Microfinanza has developed its own set of socio-economic and environmental indicators to assess the inclusiveness and performance of financial institutions and development programmes. This toolkit allows to:

  • Monitor social, environmental and financial performance over time
  • Assess accessibility and effectiveness of services for end clients
  • Integrate ESG sustainability practices into management and reporting

This approach does not only guide evaluation, but also training, capacity building and technical assistance, promoting a culture of evidence and continuous improvement.

Where we work We have carried out independent evaluations in various countries and regions:

  • Europe
  • Africa: Ghana, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Senegal
  • Asia: Afghanistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia
  • Middle East / MENA: Jordan, Palestinian Territories (West Bank), Tunisia, Morocco

Each evaluation is designed and conducted in close collaboration with clients and local partners, to ensure relevance, ownership and operational usefulness — and to steer future interventions where needed.
