inFUELencer: green transition training for fuel retailers
inFUELencer: supporting the green transition
August 2026
From research to training
A new phase for the project. After completing data collection and analysis in France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Poland, involving 127 fuel retailers and 50 VET trainers and experts, inFUELencer is now entering the Curriculum development phase. The evidence gathered will provide a solid foundation for designing training that responds directly to sector’s transformation and to the day-to-day needs of fuel retail operators.
Training priorities
The future Curriculum will focus on the most urgent skills and knowledge areas:
- energy transition and alternative fuels,
- EV charging infrastructure management,
- station digitalisation,
- service and business model diversification,
- regulatory compliance and financial planning.
The content will be practical, modular and flexible, supported by real-life cases and tools that can be applied to business decision-making.
Preliminary insights from the European research
The initial findings show a sector that is aware of the need for change, but characterised by diverse training backgrounds. Investment costs, regulatory uncertainty and limited planning capacity still represent significant barriers, especially for smaller and independent operators. At the same time, there is strong interest in practical training that can help turn the green transition into concrete opportunities for innovation and long-term sustainability. The detailed results of the survey will be shared shortly through the project’s communication channels.
inFUELencer – Promoting Alternative Paths for Fuel Retailers is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership (KA220-VET) in the field of Vocational Education and Training, designed to support service stations and fuel retail businesses in adapting to the European green transition. The project aims to strengthen the sector’s long-term economic sustainability by providing fuel retailers and VET professionals with practical training resources, strategic tools and green skills that support the development of innovative and sustainable business models. InFUELencer brings together partners from France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Poland, combining expertise in vocational training, business support and the fuel retail sector to address common challenges arising from the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy.
