An innovative microcredit for sustainable local development in Morocco

Microcredit is an essential vehicle for socio-economic development. It promotes financial inclusion and consequently social inclusion of those underprivileged segments of the population that are financially excluded for several reasons.
Despite its importance and its leading role, microcredit in Morocco has progressively lost its status as a promoter of such evolution and progress of the rural world, which concerns especially women and youth which are among the most disadvantaged categories.
In this context, where social precariousness and vulnerability govern, Moroccan Microcredit Association (AMC) may take the lead in a safe environment which may let them explore new market niches with new tools in order to better target agricultural activities, MSMEs (or start-up) socially-oriented. They may have a positive impact on communities and ecosystems, thanks to innovative tools in financial and social terms, such as green microfinance.
