Introduction
During the last decade, the microfinance industry has experienced impressive growth rates and its attention has mainly been oriented towards financial performance and growth, commercialization and the increased flow of private resources to the sector. Nevertheless, key components of microfinance include poverty alleviation and financial inclusion, combined with a notion of economic development and social responsibility. Microfinance institutions’ missions, therefore, must focus on their social and

Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore organizes an International Conference: “Present and future of microfinance: Transparency, Client protection and Social impact for a sustainable growth”, scheduled for October 24th, 2011 in Milan (Italy). The conference aims at being an important moment of reflection and discussion on relevant themes for the development of the microfinance sector through plenary sessions and parallel workshops with the presence of international experts in microfinance.
The event is associated to the second edition of the Giordano Dell’Amore Microfinance Best Practices International Award. The award winner will be announced during the Conference.

"Microcredit and financial inclusion networks" have been the focus of the meeting organised by RITMI (Italian Microfinance Network) in Florence on friday 20th May last in the framework of the meeting "Terra Futura".
In the framework of the Feasibility study on microcredit opportunities in favour of holders of subsidiary protection (ERF Programme) on February 15th, 2011 MicroProgress, OIM and Microfinanza Srl. organised a meeting focused on the elaboration of a jointly proposal for the development and the start up of education and self-employment projects for holders of subsidiary protection. The meeting has been conducted by using the focus group methodology.
Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 15:00 at the University of the Sacred Heart (Milan) has been presented the Monetary Observatory on "Microfinance in the world and in Italy"
